With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s barely any sunshine, it can be difficult to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That goes far beyond completing annual furnace service too, because there are numerous things you can do to help make your home feel comfy even when your furnace is running at its best.
Here are a few that we find very helpful here in Logan:
- Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean a great deal of air is sneaking out of your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside too. There are a host of fixes that can help you seal those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty easy fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
- Switch your furnace filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s typically recommended to swap your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its benefits, but some may last even longer.
- Get plants. Indoor plants can provide a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they can possibly improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of contaminants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
- Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already handling, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service performed annually helps you make certain that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t compromised.
It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 435-753-5515 to learn more about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
